Filmmaker Charlotte Verminck has once again been recognized internationally. Her short film Mind of Thoughts was awarded Best European Short Film at the Love & Hope Film Festival in Barcelona.

Mind of Thoughts explores the power of our thoughts and the influence they have on our daily lives.

For Verminck (26), who produced the film entirely independently with a team of over 50 people, the recognition represents more than just an award.

“Young female creators often face higher barriers when starting out,” she says. “That’s why it’s essential that we continue to create space for equal opportunities and trust. Every voice - regardless of gender, age, or background - deserves to be heard.”

Supporting the Next Generation of Female Filmmakers

The award was accepted in Barcelona by actress Brienne Mizell, who plays a leading role in the film. Parts of Mind of Thoughts were filmed at the Grand Hotel Casselbergh in Bruges.

“Charlotte has poured her entire heart into this film,” Mizell said. “She is a young, incredibly talented Belgian filmmaker. Please continue to support emerging female directors, writers, producers, and editors.”

Earlier, Verminck’s work had already been recognized with awards in Los Angeles and New York.
